Warm up with Pataclette® this winter | SWISS Saveurs

Nothing beats the winter blues better than melted cheese, especially when it is served in baked potatoes! You heard that right – we’re talking about Pataclette®, a gooey melted cheese draped luxuriously over a baked potato with crisp skin.

As part of the SWISS Saveurs program, Retail inMotion is bringing the world-famous raclette as finger food to all the cheese lovers onboard SWISS flights from Geneva. This signature product can be enjoyed on board starting December 1st. The pack, which includes six pieces of Pataclette® with Gruyère flavor, is heated in the oven to transform the product into a delicious wintertime snack. Pataclette® is vegetarian, lactose-free, gluten-free, and preservative-free.

The idea behind this product was to create a truly premium experience for customers on board. In December 2018, we co-developed a unique and delicious fondue meal as part of the SWISS Saveurs program, which returned on board last year, along with other wintertime favourites such as mulled wine and winter fruit salad. This year, we wanted to surprise passengers with an old favourite. “As the raclette, a traditional Swiss dish, is difficult to serve on board, the Pataclette® solves this challenge, as the snack allows passengers to enjoy the best of both worlds: the melted cheese is poured into potatoes, which means it can be enjoyed right away and the fun bite-sized shape makes this appetizer easy to eat,” said Manuel Hübschmann, Retail inMotion’s Retail Director for SWISS.

And since this is a time of giving and sharing, what better way to treat yourself and your travel companion(s) than with the perfect winter snack?  “Pataclette® is a unique product that cannot be found on any other airline,” remarked Nicole Beckers, Product Manager Onboard Retail at Retail inMotion. “This product is the perfect addition to the current assortment – a snack which is produced in Switzerland, inspired by Swiss cuisine, is of very high quality and is served to feed both the hunger and the cravings.”

And, as sustainability is front and center for SWISS in Geneva, Pataclette® is no exception. The cheese is AOP-labelled, which guarantees the highest standards in terms of origin, processes and quality. The potatoes are from Waadtland and the packaging is recyclable.
