It’s a happy day today as we learned that for the first time ever, Retail inMotion GmbH has been named a Great Place to Work in Germany! We are beyond thrilled to have been selected for such an honor.
Retail in Motion GmbH got the nod in two categories, namely
- Best employer in NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia state in Germany)
- Best small and medium-sized employers in Germany
If you have ever had the chance to visit our new office in Cologne, you know that it’s a pretty special place to work with lots of creative energy, plus some attractive extras such as a coffee area, football table, relaxed areas for brainstorming and pop-up meetings and a general design that drives innovation.
We’re proud to have received this extraordinary accolade and are committed to making sure that Retail inMotion is an engaging, welcoming, diverse and fun place to work for all of our team members!
We chatted with José Lirio Silva, Head of Onboard Retail Europe for Retail inMotion about the company’s latest accomplishment:
Retail inMotion GmbH was named a ‘Great Place to Work 2020’ in Germany, marking its first such accomplishment. What does this acknowledgment mean for Retail inMotion?
José Lirio Silva: Retail inMotion is very proud to receive this acknowledgment in Germany, especially since this is also the first time we’re participating. We really value our staff and try to make their day-to-day as convenient as possible, as we know that they go the extra mile daily for the company.
How did Retail inMotion get here? What are the factors that led to the company being named ‘Great Place to Work 2020’ in Germany?
José Lirio Silva: Our main focus is to make Retail inMotion a great place to work by having a fun and relaxed company culture, celebrating success and enabling our people to develop. Additionally, when hiring, we always make sure that the potential new employees are a good fit for the company and vice-versa.
Retail inMotion has been present in Cologne since 2002 but recently moved into a new, trendy office space to match their creative energy. Do you think the new space and all it has to offer influenced the decision to grant us this accolade?
José Lirio Silva: Absolutely! It reflects our culture and the way we perceive work. People spend so much time in the office, which is why we believe it should be a nice, comfortable place they want to be in.
How did Retail inMotion earn this accolade?
José Lirio Silva: At Retail inMotion, people are the key to success. They work hard and go the extra mile. Hiring right has been a very important aspect in maintaining the right atmosphere and, to some extent, in helping us earn this accolade.
What does Retail inMotion plan to do in the future in order to retain this great accolade?
José Lirio Silva: We will continue to focus on people and their development! Additionally, we are maturing as an organization by introducing and enforcing Process Management, which will help us improve our structure, become more efficient and reduce the working hours for the team members.
This is this first time Retail in Motion GmbH participates (and wins!) in Great Place to Work Germany (link in German) but it’s the second win for the company; our office in Dublin was named a Great Place to Work in Ireland a couple of years ago.
