Change is in the air! Quite literally, if we’re talking about Eurowings’ latest magazine. Both the winter menu and the boutique catalogue have a variety of new products, some of which have a sustainability twist.
New category, signature items and food trends
Guests aboard Eurowings’ long-haul flights (except for flights from the USA) have the unique opportunity to order a Doner Kebab: heated wheat pita bread filled with fried chicken, crispy cabbage salad and goat cream cheese. This marks the first time Doner Kebabs are included in buy-on-board menus! Plus, they are made in Germany.
On a lighter note, guests can also order an authentic and highly popular Spanish tapas dish: a hand-picked selection of cheeses. The cheese platter has two premium cheeses –Iberico Cheese, Manchego Cheese D.O.P. –, olive mix, hummus spread and bread sticks. It can be combined with the meat platter, which includes mini fuets, Serrano ham, olive mix, bruschetta spread and crackers. Both dishes can be enjoyed as a deal with a glass of wine to round them off perfectly.
Guests with a sweet tooth can indulge their inner chocoholic with nucao’s Cashew Vanilla Chocolate Bar. This organic, vegan and gluten-free chocolate bar is full of natural nutritious hemp seeds and nuts and is sweetened with a tiny bit of coconut blossom nectar. The company contributes to decreasing the plastic epidemic by using plastic-free packaging. Plus, for every bar sold, one tree is planted in collaboration with “Eden Reforestation Projects.” To date, nucao have planted over half a million trees, an activity which makes a real difference to climate change.
Speaking of doing good, starting November 1, 2019, the entire variety of buy-on-board water –sparkling and still– is provided by share, a Berlin-based start-up with a 1+1 principle for a better world. All bottles ensure maximum sustainability as they are produced entirely from recycled plastic, thus preventing 200 tons of plastic waste per year. With every bottle of water purchased, the company provides one day of drinking water for a person in need.
As far as alcoholic beverages are concerned, the miniature bottles of spirits (5cl) are making a comeback on the short-haul flights. Guests can choose from a collection of brands such as Jack Daniel’s Whiskey, Bacardi Rum, Bombay Sapphire Gin and Absolut Vodka. Plus, the buy-on-board menu now includes the new category ‘premium spirits’: Hendricks Gin, Grey Goose Vodka and Monkey Shoulder Whisky.

The holiday countdown has begun, which means the race to the perfect Christmas gift is on. Guests aboard Eurowings flights can choose from a variety of products, including the Bracenet Unisex bracelet. It is handmade from old or savaged fishing nets, also known as “ghost nets” that drift uncontrolled through the water and can become death traps to ocean life. A part of the profit is donated to “Healthy Seas”, an ocean protection organization that cooperates with partners to ensure these nets are salvaged.
For guests interested in a quality timepiece, Ego Soul Gent’s Chronograph is a Christmas gift any man would appreciate as it goes with any look, from business attire to casual apparel.
Last but not least, Ögon Quilted Button Navy Blue is a quilted card wallet which offers space for up to 10 credit cards and banknotes. It is RFID safe and it fits perfectly in small handbags. Plus, it’s 100% recyclable.
