You're familiar with Retail inMotion's culture and work environment (to refresh your memory, read this article), but have you ever wondered what's it really like to work here?
Last month, we launched a new series called #ADayInTheLife, in which we invite RiM employees to tell us more about how they approach their work day, from managing their time, to work-life balance, to their hobbies. After all, what better way to showcase our workplace diversity than to get them to walk us through an average day? Check out the first interview here.
In the second edition of the #ADayInTheLife series, Cora Culleton, HR Business Partner at Retail inMotion, tells us about her typical work day.
Name | Cora Culleton |

Describe your typical work day
My day normally starts at 7.30 am. The house quickly gets busy as myself, my husband, my son and our Cocker Spaniel Oreo all get up to start our day. Lunch prepared, school run done, dog fed and walked (not every morning though), I get to the office at 9.30 am. I try to avoid traffic this way, as I am not a fan of wasting time on my commute.
Once in the office, I would grab some breakfast from the lovely canteen downstairs. We are so lucky to have an in-house chef preparing lovely food every day and it is appreciated by all of us here! I would have a chat with my colleagues and get ready for the day ahead. My 11 am coffee break is what I have consistently done for the last five years and very rarely miss it .
A typical work day would start with checking my calendar to see what I need to do for the day. I am a stickler for time keeping, so I try to stay organised by sticking to my to-do list where possible. Of course, that is not always the case as with a fast-growing business comes a lot of shifting deadlines and last-minute things to get over the line. In my time at Retail inMotion, I have learned to be organised and go with the flow all at the same time. I do find preparation is key and, as a rule, I make sure I know what I need to do and where I need to be in order to get things done.
What makes your job exciting?
I love my job and being able to help my colleagues and the business on its journey to success. Coaching colleagues, offering advice where needed, solving problems and making a difference in the company is the best part of my role and what I love doing the most.
It comes with challenges, of course, as there is so much more to do to make RiM an even greater place to work for in a very competitive market. It is extremely rewarding when it all comes together, and we can see progress, high team engagement and productivity across all areas of the business. Working among extremely talented, friendly colleagues is what I love the most and what makes Retail inMotion so special.
My friends and family are the most important thing to me and I appreciate that RiM gives me the flexibility to make sure I have time for them so that it is not all work and no play .
