At Retail inMotion, we always try to think of ways to make our great products even better. One way we do this is by listening to feedback from the airlines’ crew members. Our mentality of constant improvement, which we proudly call our “retail mindset”, helps us ensure that our offerings are the best on the market.
A great recent example of this is our Crumble & Co. line of cakes. Our moist, flavorful cakes are a big hit among passengers. They come in three varieties and go really well with a morning coffee or afternoon tea. Originally, we introduced our cakes with a classic maroon and gold packaging that embodied the upscale, boutique feel of a cake you might buy in a High Street bakery.
The boxes’ shape and design fit well with the cakes and the baked treats were selling very well onboard. However, the flight attendants reported that they were having trouble quickly distinguishing between the flavors — basically a ‘cake’-tastrophe in the making. That immediately got us thinking about how to solve this issue, and improve the overall product experience for passengers and crews alike.
Our design team hit the drawing board and created a complete new design for our cakes. Each cake flavor was given a unique, easily distinguishable design. Now, at first glance, the flight attendants can assess which cake is which flavor, and quickly deliver the product to the customer. The passenger also gets to enjoy this memorable, colorful box that holds their recently purchased treat.
In this case, we took a great selling product, further increased sales and improved the experience for both the passenger and crew. A win-win-win!
