Retail InMotionTM is a sales development organization. We specialize in maximizing in-flight revenues and reducing operating expenses. We do this in several ways. First, we look for brands and products that are going to perform well onboard. If existing products don’t have the right characteristics ‒ whether that is price, serving size, or weight ‒ we design our own. We work with well established businesses as well as developing our own brands. At Retail inMotionTM, we pay close attention to the way airline retail operates. We have developed a software suite that assists in finding, sourcing and distributing product. We can save airlines time and money by receiving and consolidating product for them at a centralised warehouse. We know we can aggregate all that shipping volume and save them on their shipping costs. Finally, we can give suppliers real-time stock and usage data, so there is no reason that an order is made too early or too late. After all, just-in-time supply saves on working capital.

Retail inMotionTM is concerned with our customers’ sales and bottom line. We are willing to revolutionise market standards to make it happen. For example, we looked at caterers and warehousing/logistics which have always been separate, discrete roles. But we thought “Why can’t we combine functions?” The reason was that the incumbent caterers had the right plane-side real estate. So once we realised that DHL also had the same real estate at virtually every airport in the world and the capacity to handle cart packing, we partnered up to usurp the role of a traditional caterer. We are basically cutting out a middle-man to increase efficiency. People call us revolutionary because of the way we redefine roles.
One of the things we are recognised most for by airlines is our sales training and promotions. We invest heavily in making sure crews have the right knowledge, incentives and tools to sell onboard. We hold workshops on new products, teach up-selling techniques and administer sales contests. We also supply crews with display stands that we designed to increase product visibility onboard. Finally, we arm crews with smart vPOS devices that can help them sell effectively, handle bigger transactions, take notes, set reminders, and record their performances onboard.
